RE: RE: Why didn't GEO time-lapse LPH's rail spurs

RE: RE: Why didn't GEO time-lapse LPH's rail spurs

Perhaps you're correct about a slow, heavy load shining the rail, Race, but new rust would quickly form.

Maybe business has slowed at the two older depots, but streetside traffic doesn't tell the whole story.

Geo was willing to spend the time and effort to set up time-lapse vidcams for 49 consecutive days on the street side of the depots, and one in a field near some goats, but none of those cameras captured time-lapse video of the rail areas. Geo's presentation would have been much stronger if they also had 49 days of video of that end of the operation, rather than a couple of stills that could have been taken any time.

In fact, China's "Golden Week", a national holiday, ran from Sept 30 to Oct 7. In their report, Geo states that they shot the photos of the tracks in October, before they began the video surveilance of the front of the facilities. Since many businesses shut down at that time, it's entirely likely that rail deliveries would have dwindled.

What if the Geo folks shot their photos on Oct 6 or 7? What if the last deliveries and shipments prior to the Sept 30 start of Golden week were made on Sept 28? That would mean that the tracks were idle for eight or nine days.

Regarding the trading halt, it was likely requested by the company to allow time for them to get out a rebuttal. Geo's report obviously took a lot of time to develop, and a full rebuttal by LPH would require a significant effort as well. If Geo is telling the truth, then a few days, or even weeks before trading is resumed wouldn't hurt shareholders more than they already have been, but if Geo's claims can be easily disproven by the company, then a trading halt will protect shareholders.

The T2 hold will likely remain until the company issues a full response, then it will move to T3 in due time, and a resumption of trading time will be set.

Of course, it's also possible that the Amex will issue its own trading halt once all the news is out, and ask for more info.
