Hey Kirk how was the pickerel fishing? I had to come home early. My buddies sudden passing. 47 years old blood clot to the heart. Not even time to say goodbye to his family. Awful! I have a cool story though. I was going back one of Alamos Golds mining roads to go snag more pikerel. Lots but fairly small. Kept the biggest at 2-2.5 lbs. Anyway on day we were heading out there in mid aft and I came across a loon in the middle of this mining road. I blocked road while I made a few calls. Long story short all I could do is grab it with my rain gear around it. I had gloves on thank god because it did get a hold of me. Anyway a lady from a large bird rescue in New Liskerd drove over to pick him up. Bleeding from its beak. Must have hit a rock or tree. Anyway I just heard minutes ago it was released back into the nearest lake where I picked him up. SUCCESS!!!! That was the first loon the rescue ever had. Makes me feel good.
I want to share some business news I heard up there. That underground Alamos mine in Matachewan is a serious low grade. 2-4 gpt. 700 people work there too. I asked how can that possibly be supported. Apparently they are trucking ore from that high grade in Dubreville to Matachewan for crushing. 10 hr trip one way. I was just blown away by this given the cureent expenses. Thought I would share that info. Like my name says...........
