more commentsWhat happened:
I have posted some scenarios of what were the probable causes of the negative announcement in august.
to continue the discussion, I believe i should include some points..
Since MAA failed to deliever on Sinohydro after extension, and since MAA failed to deliver on july  AND august, I think if they would have issued an extension for the third time, It would look really bad for management and complant. I believe what happened is complant asked for an extension "off the record" and unpublished. Sure they "lose" exclusivity but I believe MAA basically are giving them an extension because I believe in the long term of the company, complant would be the best choice and complant knows that as well. Mag managers know the history that sometimes china takes a very long time in these matters. 6 months typically is a little fast for china. I believe the SDIC were on the verge (and still may be) of signing the deal until the BHP buyout offer to where the SDIC government officials probably got a litttle gittery and/or were ordered to put all potash negotiations on temporary hold until they figure out how they want to approach these new turn of events. I believe that once we see what is going on with the Potash bid play out, the SDIC will sign the deal if it is still on the table, or sooner.
