RE: Question about the deeper sands

RE: Question about the deeper sands

certainly that's a possibility and UM-10 is the first chance to prove that commercially.  Once they prove that these deeper zones can be produced commercially, they have to figure out how to drain the pool in the most effecient way.  Certainly it might be economic to deepen the existing wells or they may decide to leave the wells alone and just produce the zones that are already present in the current wells.  The first wells weren't dual string so they can only produce one, maybe two zones at a time.  If they wait for the bottom zones to drain and then move uphole to perf the next zone, it could be decades before they get around to the deeper zones.  It might be better to drill new wells just to drain the lower zones, as they are doing with UM-10.

The reserve engineers need proof that these deeper zones are present in more than just UM-9 and UM-10 so it will take many more wells for Mart to get full credit for the deeper zones.  Umudasege is proving to be MUCH larger than first thought.  We have a long way to go before we know the true extent of it's size.
