My post was a FYI post addressed only to non- resident of Canada.  I do not have any knowledge of the tax system in Canada.  The withholding by Canada is a treaty between Canada and individual countries.  In my regular accounts Canada takes 15% of my MMT divident payment but I get a tax credit for that amount when I file in the US. Per the treaty, US retirement accounts have no withholding by Canada.  I can only guess this goes both ways for Canadians receiving dividend from US companies.
