More technical information for the reservoir engineers and geochemists in the crowd about the play?

Source rock and carbon content....the Husky slides have a three references to possible unconventional formations...??? There may be several plays here.

The Canol Fm has far less clays and the most silceous mineralogy...pretty evident why they are chasing the Canol and avoiding water fracs.....although water and propane also add to the cost of managing wastes and emissions. Regards

In response to geodude13's comments about the minerology of the Canol and Bluefish.  The composition is  over 80% silica with less than 5% clay.  The reason that you avoid water fracs is because water causes clays to swell and this reduces permeability: called formation damage.  So the reason Husky is planning on doing a 20 ton sand frac with oil as the ...more
