I have posted a few times the old-timer utilities have had a mind change and I started following Southern Company as they continue to purchase renewable energy production products in the southeast US.

Currently, renewable energy seems to have a lot of smaller companies, reminds me a little of the US telecom industry in the 1990s which lead to a lot of consolidation.  Perhaps renewable energy will begin its consolidation in the next few years.

Perhaps Alterra shouldn't issue a dividend, but should use the funds for M&A activity?  Get larger with utility production and new project initiatives?  Although,  I am on the Magma Energy side and I don't time we were the winners in the merger to form Alterra.

Another solar project Southern Company purchased:

Southern Company told everyone in 2010 and 2011 (when I went through a local leadership program) there was no way wind or solar fit their strategy and then went above and beyond to say the region didn't have the right dynamics for it or to support it...apparantly they changed their mind because they have been acquiring a lot of solar projects around the southeast and now in TX.

Mindsets are changing...I am planning on it being profitable for AXY.

Enjoy your holiday season,
