Wallmart and Lowbla .... with Tesla

Loblaw, Canada's largest supermarket chain, is among the first buyers of Tesla's new electric semitrailer. A spokeswoman for the Ontario retailer said Friday that the company had pre-ordered 25 copies of the new vehicle, the Semi. "This is part of our commitment to electrify our fleet," said Catherine Thomas. Earlier in November, Loblaw said it planned to fully electrify its fleet by 2030. This means it should add 350 zero-emission vehicles and more than 2,500 trailers. According to the Ontario grocer, the withdrawal of its diesel vehicles and refrigerated trailers could eliminate more than 94,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year, the equivalent of removing more than 20,000 automobiles from the roads. By 2030, Loblaw expects to reduce emissions from electricity use by 35%, transportation from 25%, and refrigeration by 50%. The first deliveries of Tesla trucks are expected in 2019. The price of trucks has not been disclosed, but the booking of a Tesla Semi costs US $ 5000 per truck. Walmart also said it had pre-ordered 15 Tesla trucks, including 10 for its travels in Canada. "We have a long tradition of testing new technologies - including alternative fuel trucks - and we are excited to be among the first to drive this new electric vehicle," said a spokesman. from Walmart, Ryan Curell, in an email. Tesla did not want to identify other Canadian buyers of Semi, which can reach a speed of 100 kilometers per hour in five seconds without a trailer, which a comparable diesel vehicle can only do in 15 seconds.i
