IAB reserve
IAB reserve There are some fine details that many people may not be aware of.
The current community of Nahanni Butte is on a flood plain and had numerous buildings washed away in 2012. So any new dwellings are not insurable. The community must eventually relocate.
The feds set aside a plot of land on higher ground above the flood plain that the community could relocate to. They could then get insurance to build there. This plot of land is called an IAB reserve.
Now, the new agreement shows up. The govt and/or Parks Canada wants to build 3 new buildings including a lodge in Nahanni Butte. Where are they going to build them? Will they be insurable?
In Addition to all that, the ASR, has to pass through this IAB reserve land, which requires an agreement, with NBDB, and NZC, which I don't believe has happened yet. And it has to be ratified by Ottawa as this was not part of the devolution of the feds to the NWT.
So, it's all getting very complicated, as if it never was before.
I don't blame a white knight for not showing up. If I had a few hundred million to invest, it wouldnt be in Prairie Creek. It's my belief that this new band of managers/directors thought they were getting a good deal, but they had no idea how complicated it would become.
I agree with whoever said that some heads will roll in RCF.
I'm voting NO, but I can't see this project getting off the ground anytime soon.
if I'm wrong, and RCF has a plan waiting in the wings, I'm ready to pounce, like Yosimite Sam, with both guns a blazing.
