I am not seeking that you believe anything, only to think in terms of facts. I guess you have more data than the analysts out there (although no one is perfect). The reality is that the share price, far from anticipating a high bid, has languished based on the Company's results which have been disappointing. Of course, the Company's focus has not been to develop its reserve base, but to market themselves.
So you think $1.50 is realistic and maybe it could turn out to be that, certainly $2.00 is sounding outlandish. The market is more informed than you might think, with many players looking at the numbers and the stock price dropped in recent times despite the Company being for sale. As stated before there is some concern about the booked reserves expressed by TD so using metrics could be tricky here.
I looked at Yanchang and am puzzled as to why the only apparent bidder, so far, is this type of company. Perhaps it is the strategy of Novus to draw out a local industry player.
I don't have the short position, but I would be surprised if it was significant as the Company is for sale.
