RE:Another ThoughtWhat we are seeing with Nevsun highlights one of the major differences between the US and Canada. In the US, there are too many "activists" and in Canada, there are not enough. While the manner in which the ESM-LUN "proposal" has been put forth seems like amateur hour, it is time for Nevsun's largest shareholders to begin to exert their influence. M&G seemed inclined to do so after the "proposal" was first made public but, as far as I know, they have been quiet ever since. One of the big boys needs to craft a release telling the Company and the Board - in friendly terms for now - that they need to immediately begin a formal process to review all of the company's strategic options. In that release there should be the implicit threat to go "activist" in the event the company proceeds down the path it is on which, as Reaper so adeptly points out, seems destined primarily to entrench and enrich the current board and management. My experience has been in shareholder friendly organizations in which the compensation programs were designed to make management think like shareholders and the results along the way were extremely rewarding for our shareholders. To my mind, working in the "best interests of the company" correlates almost perfectly with also working in the best intersts of the shareholders. Nevsun, get the process started now!
