I suspect it will take some time as we just voted in a new Premier. Fortunately he used to sell drugs in highschool so he may make that his priority. I am not looking forward to the rest of his time in office though !

There are 112 licensed producers in Canada with 60 located in Ontario. Would suspect the majority of the Ontario LPs will get some shelf space, then it will be a matter of sales to determine volume of follow of orders. Ford will take care of his own province, just as Quebec, BC, and Alberta have.

Yeah but it might be more complicated as the previous Premier had all but signed a deal with the LCBO. Liquor Control Board of Ontario. Ford had previously said he won't support that decision.

Yes, I agree it's gonna be a sh*tshow starting out as they are not prepared. It will be a challenge to transition from existing supply base to the new regime but potential tax revenue will rule the day. Ford's biggest first task will be to enforce the new legislation.

Sorry but the question still remains. Where will HIP get the product they will need to fulfill any supply agreement ? Currently they have $5 million dollars worth of product. Conservatively this means they have less than 1,000 kilos of product in total. Considering that Jay Wilgar just claimed the Brantford facility to be “one of the most productive cannabis cultivation facilities in Canada.” and ...more

I can't wait to try THC infused beer!    The safest way to take weed is not to smoke it but to take it through edibles and drinks, this circumvents the damage to the lungs.    I'm old enough now that the THC will do minimal damage to my cerebral cortex.
Comment by mathandmass on Jul 12, 2018 3:54pm
Don't wait. THC beverages are only coming in a year or two and might never catch on - the release is much slower than inhaling. Between inhalation and edibles basically. And edibles are for hippies who can eat one and wait for an hour for it to kick in (without knowing how hard it will kick them - cause who cares, "We're like... psychonaughts, maaaan!". lol Discreet pocket ...more

What's the problem? Go to any dispensary, show your driver's license, get oil, drip one drop into your beer - done.

I meant MATHmass by the way.

very witty mathmass. ok don't know what I said to get your smartass remark but alright I will play your game.  so you also said it will take a year or two to get thc infused beverages going, so which is it?   if it was this simple why can't the beer companies just do this and get it going oct 17th?   government regulations that sort of thing?

I was not trying to be sassy or sarcastic. Sorry if it came across that way. Edibles and infused drinks are not part of this "legalization" as it stands - additional guidelines to follow. The products are being worked on and developed in hopes the broadening of the spectrum of legalized products will follow. And it will, there is no reason for it not to. But this is Canada, so ...more

Sure but if you are running a company that sells cannabis, you first have to have some to sell. I am in agreement the expectations are ridiculous and that is why I sold my ACB stock a long time ago. These supersized companies will be shouldered with the enormous task of selling ridiculous amounts of cannabis. If supply exceeds demand then prices will reflect that I would think.

Funny, thanks for the laugh .... well we all know the Fords like to get high or at least use to, hell we all did back in the day. You can bet HIP will be on the list for Ontario suppliers, Ontario will be the biggest market but don`t count on any N/R moving the s/p. The market just does not care at this juncture. I`ve read a 1/2 dozen or so announcements about the B.C. gov. awarding mou`s, HIP ...more
