ORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 2, 2013) - Teranga Gold Corporation ("Teranga") (TSX:TGZ)(ASX:TGZ) is pleased to announce that onJune 28, 2013 its newest director nominee, Edward "Eddie" Goldenberg , has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada. The Order of Canadawas established in 1967 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II , and is the highest award in Canada's civilian honours system. The Order of Canadarecognizes a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. Eddie will accept his award in an upcoming official ceremony.

Eddie has a distinguished background working with the Government of Canada, having been the Senior Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister ofCanada from 1993 to 2003 and Prime Minister Chrétien's Chief of Staff in 2003. Prior to this, Eddie held various roles with the federal government, including with all major economic departments and as Special Constitutional Advisor to the Minister of Justice from 1980 to 1982. Eddie is also a contributor to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

More recently Eddie has been a partner at Bennett Jones and Chair of its Government Affairs and Public Policy practice. Eddie is also a board member of the Canadian International Council, an independent council which was established to reinforce Canada's role in international affairs.

"Eddie was instrumental in the negotiation of Teranga's global agreement prior to his nomination for election to the Teranga board. His tireless work and his relationships with both the Senegalese and Canadian governments played a pivotal role in the execution of this 'win-win' agreement signed in May of this year. Extension of CDI VIF filing deadline

Teranga also wishes to confirm that it has extended the deadline for filing CDI Voting Instruction Forms ("VIFs") with CHESS Depository Nominees Pty Ltd. from Friday July 12th at 9:30am AEST to Tuesday July 16th 9:30am AEST, as disclosed in the Management Information Circular for its annual and special meeting to be held on Thursday July 18th, 2013.
