Heading back to $4 ?

That's a quick -25% decline here . Don't like the way this thing trades - typical up 10% down 10% kinda thing and doesn't feel stable at all

Two possibilities: 1. All oil & gas went ahead of itself and now it's coming back to earth. 2. I sold Friday, way too early, and then I prayed, way too hard, for a lower entry point.

ex divi date is June 12. Not 15
Comment by regardless on Jun 11, 2020 2:08pm
Ovintiv website clearly states june 15 in the investors section

ex divi date is the 12th so if you buy today you will still get the divi. gl lol this market be crazy you could 10 cnts  a share by then, It looks like its bagholder thursdays again
Comment by regardless on Jun 11, 2020 2:53pm
Ok so if the ex dividend date is the 12 of June why can't you buy in the morning tomorrow and hold till close secondly Ovintiv website says June 15 record date and June 30 payout date
Comment by Nakate on Jun 11, 2020 4:09pm
ex divi day is the 12th meaning if you buy on the 12th it is trading ex divi meaning no divi for you if you bought today you will get the divi as it is not yet trading ex divi, the record date is the 15th meaning  that is the day you are recorded as an owner, it takes 3 full business days to legitimize a transaction so any trades made on the 12 will not be considered completed until after ...more

Ex means after, or without, so 12 is the day it trades without the announced dividend. In regards to why it didn't go up... Canadian Natural CNQ has the same ex dividend date, it pays 0.42 a share and went down 2.48 so it's not just OVV.

If it was you, it's the time for you to pray again for the opposite direction :)
