First, am glad to be back on this board.

 

My anticipation of only 30 - 40% premium on a takeout is based on the fact that if everyone is already waiting in anticipation, then the stock should already be within this range.  If 80% is in the cards, then this stock would be increasing pretty steadily, but it is relatively flat.

 

Perhaps not apples to apples, but premiums paid for other takeouts lately have not been as high.  One would be Spartan, a tight oil play, It is a great company on all metrics.  But as far as I can see, it is only receiving about a 10% premium (based on when rumours started hitting the street).  Just like the LNG developing on the west coast, the pipeline shortages heading south should correct for the tight oil producers in the next 3 years or so.  Both these types of non renewable markets will offer new volumes and opportunities for the Canadian producers.
