I'm not sure I agree with increased trading activity as a sign of a takeover.  I was involved in the Progress and Viterra takeover and both stocks had stalled, they were doing nothing for a long time and then finally the takeover news which was a relief.  Although I was also involved in the Ainsworth takeover and before the news there was quite a sell off then it climbed back up a little- but that stock had higher volume trading compared to Progress or Viterra.  I'm not sure by trading activity you mean volatility or an increase in stock value?  

I think generally in this stock market you can just never tell what might happen, it's very unpredictable.
