I don't disagree with the spirit of what you're saying, oldnagger. But the fact of the matter is they are legally obligated to pay out the existing shareholders for the amount agreed to.

True, a regular transaction would take three days to settle. But I'm not surprised if it takes an extra couple when it is the wind down of an entire company. I've been through a couple of these merger/takeover transactions before. And it may take a couple of extra days, but it always happens.

Otherwise, people go to jail. (Not that it's not deserved, in this case).
