PEET taking advantage of new coffee culturePEET is aggressively making moves to take advantage of the
growing "Coffee Culture" in the U.S.A. They are taking their coffee
to the streets and stores of quality fresh higher end outlets.
Recent releases with movement into Jensens's in Southern
California is one good one. "Jensen spokesperson says ' We
recognize the growth that is occurring within the specialty coffee
category, and we are pleaed to be expanding our selection of
super-premium coffees with Peet's award-winning products' "
Also the bigger move on Cost Plus World Market Stores and
todays post of even bigger distribution at store front level. Basics
are that Peet sees the massive quick change taking place in
coffee across America. I would not go so far as to say they are
fantastic as there are others moving quickly into this area as well
but Peet's is good enough to be there and smart enough to
move quickly garnering a footprint in the Urban fare type
environment. Stock is keeping up considering the negative and
uncertain conditions. Watch all coffee stock! More happening.
Big Specialty Coffee Conference coming up in the Spring. Really
surprising developments likely to appear.
India has been invited as the "Country of Origin" chosen to
demonstrate their exceptional quality and Eco-Sense farmed
coffee. They by default already are an organic product by the fact
they have never aspired to slash and burn style thanks to the
Brits back in the mid 1850's. They have as yet to get an official
"Organic" acceptance under the rules. That will come IMO. I know
India Coffee well. It surpasses and stands high against World
markets but for years was exploited by Coyotes adulterating and
messy storage, shipping etc. of which gave the beans a low
rating with that of North America (now changed) India has for
century time been shipping beans to Western and Eastern
Europe.
The Illy group in Italy (their recognized best coffee people) are
now importing premium bean from India in large numbers giving
Brazil second place these days. India beans notably give great
creme on Expresso. No wonder India does that best.
Regardless Peet is making great moves on their own. Give them
credit for being aggressive in this aweful market. Go Peet's!
