IPF is a constant progression of fibrosis in the lung (that explain why there can't be placebo effect). Pirfenidone slows a little bit the progression of fibrosis.
NOW with 4050, FVC improve. MEANING: more sace for air in the lung, MEANING: reduction in fibrosis.
4050 removes fibrosis tissus from the lung as in the animal model trial.
We might have a cure.
I would like to see the results of patients that as done more than the 12 weeks study.
Like I've mentionned before, on of my friend died from IPF a few years ago. For having been with him from the beginning to the end, I can easily say they can't be a placebo effect with this condition.
At the end of his life, my friend needed to have oxygen to be produced with 2 compressors to stay in his home, and even eating was something very hard to do, as he add to catch up his breathe after each spoon he eat.
So even if it's a 12 weeks study, and even if PBI-4050 could only improved the condition for that 12 weeks, and slow down after the speed of this disease, I'm pretty sure my friend would had enjoyed those 12 weeks just being stable or having a small improvement.
