Cold Mantle Event at Chidliak

Cold Mantle Event at ChidliakA while back, I think it was Dr. Grutter who said something to the effect that Chidliak was the coldest mantle event he'd seen.  I think it was inferred that such events produce better quality gems.

To the geologists out there, is there any correlation between such extreme cold mantle events and the depth and widening/narrowing of the Kims?
