The normal situation is that the parent 's share price becomes elevated just prior to the spin-out and will then drop immidiately after the spin-out by approx the same value as the spin-out.
In other words, no net capital gain.
Other ways would be to define the spin-out as return of capital which is not taxed.
As for PTQ, the value is quite obvious.
2.3 million oz of gold at Molejon of which 750,000 oz are proven and probable.
2.2 million oz at Iberia plus 45 million oz of silver.
Thats about 5.5 million oz of gold equivalent or about $25 of market cap per oz.
The average for producers is about $150 per oz.
PTQ was savaged by the hedgies and they have now moved on to greener pastures.
Fundamentals dictate that we will now move back upwards.
