I think you did not catch the fact that PDI is a service company and PTQ is a resource company. Service companies are a lot harder to value since they are as good as the next customer. The price of gold may go up and down but even in a down side it is still there in the ground and it will go up at some point. I am invested in resource companies but I hope PDI will do well. I strongly believe the plan is good and if I get shares of PDI I will keep them since it is a free ride. At the end of the day PTQ has the assets. PDI has a bunch of trucks partially owned by the bank.
Concerning Spain and Portugal economy, yes they are in bad shape but they are still alive and they need infrastructure. It is the best ROI for any system of government. PDI is targeting mining work so they will get the work if the resource is there. You have a very good point about guarantees, there is no such things as guarantees except of course if it is from you sister company with the same owners.
