Last Day to Sell for 2012 Tax year:
To claim a capital loss for taxation year 2012, securities must be sold by:
Canadian Exchanges: Last trade date is Monday Dec. 24th, 2012, 1:00pm EST, to settle December 31st, 2012. (For options Dec. 28th)
U.S. Exchanges: Last trade date is Wednesday Dec. 26th, 2012, 4:00pm EST, to settle December 31st, 2012 (For options Dec. 28th)
After these dates, capital gains or losses on a sale apply to the 2013 tax year.
