Late day bump up

Has anyone noticed that there is often a trade late in the day that seems to bump up the price before closing? It often triples the bid/ask spread. I wonder if someone is using this technique to ensure margin balances are covered? With the low volume this stock is ripe for short term manipulation.

i have noticed the pattern but don't have an answer. Very low volume today. Don't know why anyone would short this stock at present!

I'm not trying to say anyone is shorting it, I'm saying they are long, but using borrowed money. In a margin account you can borrow against the value of investments within your account, but if the value drops below the amount allowed you get a margin call and need to sell off equities or inject cash into your account.  The bump up just seems to happen more often than it should, and ...more
