But a company that starts to make money and can start buying back shares is where you want to be.

This is the route that big, medium and small cap oil companies are starting to do now. You can increase shareholders value much faster and by buying back those shares. So while it might seem strange management has the ability to do just that. At current pricing the company could decrease the share count. 

Either way the share price should be ready for strength the last few buys were very heavy.
