Southern Pacific Resource Corp. is a Canada-based company, which is engaged in the thermal production of heavy oil in Senlac, Saskatchewan on a property known as STP-Senlac, and thermal production of bitumen on a property located in the Athabasca region of Alberta known as STP-McKay, as well as exploration for and development of in-situ oil sands in the Athabasca region of Alberta. Its STP-McKay property consists of oil sands leases totaling approximately 37,760 acres. The Company’s operations also include Anzac, Hangingstone and Ells. The Company’s STP-McKay property is located approximately 45 kilometers northwest Ft. McMurray. The Anzac project covers approximately 117 kilometers of two-dimensional (2D) seismic. The Company owns 80% interest in Hangingstone project. The Ells project covers approximately 164 kilometers of two-dimensional (2D) seismic.

Sounds like there was a difficult decision to make. ICD's or infills?

Key decisions like this remind me of a train reaching a junction. Does one go left or right? It doesn't take much effort to go either way, but it's difficult or impossible getting turned around and go back one you know what lies ahead. At that junction, we all ask - Which path will take us successfully through the chasm of the unknown?

Despite what happened, at least STP tried. They had the guts/skill/vision to get the company on the cusp of success with a shoestring budget. Without junior companies taking risks we'll only have a handful of bloated oil companies and banks to invest in. For every Facebook there are plenty of Friendsters we don't hear about. STP took a big risk and it didn't work out.

But what if it did?
