Thanks for that Shat,

Ok fair enough. Just one thing! Isn't house #33 Canaccord? So bein at -12 million shares would appear the Altacorp is shorting the stock?
Comment by ticket2ride on May 27, 2014 4:49pm
Junit, This should not construed as shorting the stock , it just means that since 1999(15yrs), Cannaccord has sold on behalf of their clients (thats important ) 12 million more shares than they have purchased for their clients in that time frame. If you searched another brokerage house you may find the exact oppisite results. Wouldn't it be nice to be on the commision side when Sageview ...more

T2R, Thanks for clearing that up for me. Maybe I'm misinterpreting some more info then, on TMX.com when you look at the last transactions, you see the house number of buyer and seller. Is that the house that a private investor is buying through or is the house itself buying?
Comment by ticket2ride on May 27, 2014 5:24pm
That is the house that an investor is buying or selling through. Think of it this way , you sell your actual house (your home) -A Remax Realtor lists your house -A Royal Lepage Realtor sells it You get the proceeds they get the commission. In neither case does the Realtor own your home ...you do or you did. So the real question in the Securities Market isn't Which House is Buying or ...more

That makes a lot of sense now. So when you see one house ie. Canaccord buying like crazy, it just means that they have been authorized by someone to purchase shares on their behalf.

I feel like a rookie now after this Q and A session lol even though I've been buying and selling my own shares through Waterhouse.  Whats your opinion of the current situation with STP? For conversations sake !

Think of it like adding tools to your tool box... TD is 007 (kinda like Bond ) For fun, next time you buy or sell a stock 15 mins later you will see on your TSX page your TD 007 transaction go through ( a real sense of pride and accomplishment ). Hey Honey come look thats my trade ! , I  just played poker with our life savings.....kidding of course. Brother there is not enough ink for my ...more

That was a really insightful post. I agree with you on every single point you make. So when you quote a $1.11/Share value, where did you find that figure?  Is that based on 1P reserves and all assets?  Where do you stand on the subject on the rumours of a buyout or JV? Personally I would like to see a JV. When one considers where STP is at financially, a partner with cash would ...more

I think they are serious about selling or going with JV partner, and one big indication of that is holding back production. New owner/JV will want to spend the money their way, and use their own strategy as to how to move forward. Will STP be successful in getting the deal they want…time will tell. I do believe the decision will be announced sooner then later, they can’t be holding back for ...more

Total Shareholder Equity, is that the value of the company assets?
Comment by ticket2ride on May 28, 2014 12:47pm
Shareholder Equity is the net worth of a company. It represents the stockholders' claim to a business' assets after all creditors and debts have been paid. Shareholder equity is also referred to as Owner's or Stockholders' Equity. It can be calculated by taking the total assets and subtracting the total liabilities.
