RE: Mongolia is like quick sand

RE: Mongolia is like quick sand

Despite my disparaging remarks about Mongolia, I want to make it clear that I am still very bullish on both SSL/SAND and (long term at least) SND. In fact, I think SND got the better part of the deal on OT, if only because it put a lot less money into it. (The only good thing about SND's recent difficulties is that the mother dog is seeing fit to throw it some very nice leftover bones with CSI, OT and the like.)

Don't forget also that Sandstorm picked up a very promising royalty at Ann Mason, which is unhindered by the shenanigans of either Mongolia or Rio Tinto. Considering that Entree is likely to continue encountering trouble at OT, that royalty may prove to be just an "entree" into a much more lucrative stream for Sandstorm, provided Entree remains solvent enough to develop it. And even if it doesn't, it remains a potential source of payback.

Regardless, Oyu Tolgoi is certainly going to be a one-off, especially now that shareholders have made it clear that it had dam well better be. Even in the worst case scenario of OT eventually being written off in its entirety, it will untimately be only be speed bump in Sandstorm's road to riches.

Contrary to popular belief, most quicksand doesn't swallow you whole.
