March 30 (Bloomberg) -- China will start building state stockpiles of uranium to avert domestic shortages, the Shanghai Securities News said, citing Cao Shudong, vice director of the power department in the National Energy Administration.
The country will also encourage companies to stockpile uranium and buy overseas uranium resources, the newspaper cited Cao as saying.
China may raise its nuclear power capacity target to more than 75 million kilowatts by 2020 from an original goal of 40 million kilowatts, Cao said.
