Canada is in discussions with China and India to promote nuclear power generation and may sign a science and technology agreement with Hong Kong, Trade Minister Stockwell Day was quoted as saying.

Rising energy demand in China and India are creating demand for nuclear power technology, he stated, who is on a nine-day visit to Asia, including Japan and China.

Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd, owned by the country’s federal government, is the only maker of nuclear power plants that don’t need enriched uranium. Day also said a science and technology agreement with Hong Kong “is entirely possible.” “We are very open to a science and technology agreement in whatever form it might take,” Day added.
