Nuclear Technolog ImprovingVery informative commentary on new technology using Beryllium oxide with Uranium oxide mix. My understanding is that it the Beryllium oxide conducts the heat generated by Uranium oxide much faster, there by keeping the Uranium rods cool for a longer time. This would give plant operators more time to react in an emergency.
This is why Nuclear energy is here to stay. I would hazard to guess that there will be further improvements in the technology and the fear currently being experienced will just dissipate.
