BHP Billiton's Jansen potash mine may be delayed, but energy minister Bill Boyd isn't worried.
"Anytime you see any kind of delay, it certainly can have an impact -- I don't see it as a significant thing at this point," he said.
"I think they're trying to time their entrance into the market place with prices and with expected demand curves going forward."
He said BHP Billiton has shown no indication of actually pulling out -- final approval of the mine was originally expected for this year but will likely be pushed back to late 2013 or further.
The global corporation has already invested over $2 billion into the project, which would be the single largest potash mine in the world.
