Technology

Is this news truly ground breaking, or are other companies also working on the same technology?

A quick google search and I found this article from a year ago. Is this essentially the same, or similiar technology?

Not trying to take anything away from AAV, but I cant imagine a small Canadian company would be the only one with something so important.

There is a lot of research and it's very important for the industry to stay strong in the fight against those seeking the end of fossil fuels. I think, it's all about the extra cost which can be substantial. AAV appears to be very competitive and modular design allows gradual implementation. Will see. The stock went up 25% on a huge volume. I'd think, institutional investors made a few ...more

Sugaree, Reading your link again, they are testing new technology on a relatively small 50 MW power plant. The cost is not revealed but good luck, and it's good for natural gas. The AAV or Entropy technology is used post-combustion so it can be applied to existing large scale power plants in jurisdictions where the investment can be offset by lower carbon taxes or even credits, whatever the ...more

I agree that the potential of the technology was already understood to certain industry participants. Otherwise they would not have been contracted to provide a design to the BC gas plant owner they refer to.  This tech has legs. From AAV News Release: "In addition to the MCCS project at Glacier, Entropy is pleased to announce it has been contracted to design a third-party MCCS project ...more

Seppelt, I am looking forward to more color on the technology employed and the patents they may have captured. Since AAV may be transtioning into a 'tech' company, can we expect a share price reflecting a multiple of future projected revenues? lol

I am still a bit perplexed as to this technology. Is the removal of the CO2 post combustion or are they using hydrogen reforming combined with a water gas shift reaction ? Also , I  presume the CO2 can be readily sequestered without substantial further investment. How is this technology different and more cost effective than other similar technologies ? Can this technology be readily extended ...more

At Glacier they said the CO2 will be stored in a deep saline aquifer. As far as technology, there are several patents pending, until then not much is revealed.  https://entropyinc.com/

Just to add that Entropy is run by AAV people and shares the office with AAV. Probably was financed by AAV so must be a lot more than 50% ownership.
