Trans-border Travel QuestionHello All,
I'm new here, but I wanted to get your take on the resumption of transborder travel. I highly doubt Air Canada will be able to sustain itself for an extended period of time operating cargo and domestic routes only.
I understand that today, the closure of the Canada-US border was extended to June 21st. Does anyone have any thoughts on when it would re-open to non-essential travel? Would they actually push this into July and sacrifice the summer tourist season (to an extent)?
Is opening non-essential travel wih a mandatory qurantine period even reasonable? Imagine wanting to go away for a long-weekend and then having to qurantine for another 14 days...seems like something most people would find hard to do.
Some ideas I had to get things moving:
- Temperature checks prior to boarding
- On-board precautions (social distanced seating, limited on-board service, enhanced cabin cleaning)
- Upon return to Canada, self-qurantine/isolation policy remains. The option to pay an additional fee to take a COVID-19 test is available - if traveler tests negative, they do not need to participate in said 14-day qurantine/isolation.
