So there is a difference I do not want lives lost I would rather see a airline stock fall, I do not hope for world desater but I was able to come up with the hypothies that the covid pandemic was far from over.

Logic to the research says no polotician will risk mass casualties because they did not act quick enough when a new varianat shows up. Caution is the best thing. Limiting travel and puting mandates for masks and social distancing back in place slows the spread so the companis who need months to roll out a new vax have the time it takes to do so.
Then you have the public angle there is a huge amount of folks who refuse to get vaxxed and I bet a growing number who will refuse to get the booster for the new varriant. this will slow down recovery and opening.
