Just took a drive to Crosstown's lot. The lot appears full of vehicles (I presume "For Sale" vehicles). Are you sure you're not just making up a story?

Besides which, a LACK (shortage) of inventory for sale is normally considered a desirable state of affairs in a merchandising business. ("Sorry, sir, we just sold the last one. They're flying off the shelves - figuratively speaking, of course. But we're expecting another shipment of Chatty Cathy dolls Monday.) 

Are you sure there wasn't a greater lack of vehicle inventory in the past - say, during WWII, when steel was being diverted to building tanks and Jeeps (pre-FCA), and aluminum was commandeered to build Spitfires and Mustangs (pre-Ford).
