RE:wondering why earnings are ....
This is a family run company owned by the founder who holds multiple voting shares to control the company. The time is approaching when control will be changing hands and that may be an opportunity for a bigger company to take a run at it. Also today's news that 100,000 shares will be purchased from the controlling shareholder for cancellation speaks to this issue as well as the fact that it will boost per share earnings by a commensurate amount.
My one concern is that the SG&A costs seem to increase commensurately with sales increases and stay the same when sales go down. This type of business should see a more stable SG&A value so that profits flow more efficiently to the bottom line. Being a family controlled business has its benefits and drawbacks and the latter issue is one of downsides.
