I'd add that the biggest threat to a points customer is the threat of devaluation of those points. I'm not sure a cryptocurrency could offer the stability and security of a points system. You might lose customers at the slightest sign of volatility.

However, being able to trade points for a certain cryptocurrency could be interesting.

Allowing for the trading of points would decrease the number that are never redeemed, thereby increasing the costs of rewards and decreasing cash flow and profits.

Highly unlikely scenario.  I never say never, but this is as close as it gets.
