The other point to remember is that the deal is NOT just with AC.  It is with a consortium that inclues with TD, CIBC and VISA, and it may be that TD was the main driving force behind the deal, given that AC got a sweet arrangment going forward with TD.  The banks and Visa have made it clear that they will be with Air Canada after the deals with Aeroplan expire, one way or the other.   Most of Aeroplan's revenue came from the TD and CIBC credit cards.  To turn down the deal now, after all of this negotiation, would probably mean that TD would refuse to renew the contract with Aimia after 2024, meaning the bankcrupty of Aeroplan on the same day that happened.  Turn this deal down, and the SP will be 1.50 again.
