Carbon free does not equate to green. Most non-carbon sources of electricity have environmental problems of their own. Also, the mass balance of the materials required for non carbon generation to replace carbon generated sources will have a dramatic impact impact on the environment.

I am currently reading the book The Green New Deal. It talks about completely replacing oil and gas for supplying energy needs with electricity derived from renewable sources. I can't address your specific criticisms as I'm not an expert in the area, but if these ideas are enacted into policy, it would be very bad news for companies producing or distributing oil or natural gas.

OMG.......Here we go again. Yes will be correct in about 70-100 years from now when there will be a new stable technology. Todays solar and wind technology does not work in northern climates that need heating 6 months a year. De-carbonized nat gas is the fuel of the future as it will be cheaper than anything else and nat gas readily available.
