Big Boys are buying!!!

Van ECK Associates Corp acquired a new stake in Alio Gold Inc (NYSEAMERICAN:ALO) during the 2nd quarter, according to the company in its most recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The fund acquired 3,193,770 shares of the company’s stock, valued at approximately $4,645,000. Van ECK Associates Corp owned 3.81% of Alio Gold at the end of the most recent quarter.
 
Several other hedge funds have also recently bought and sold shares of ALO. Aegis Financial Corp grew its stake in Alio Gold by 127.8% during the 1st quarter. Aegis Financial Corp now owns 1,452,242 shares of the company’s stock worth $2,828,000 after purchasing an additional 814,665 shares in the last quarter. JPMorgan Chase & Co. grew its stake in Alio Gold by 59.6% during the 1st quarter. JPMorgan Chase & Co. now owns 486,150 shares of the company’s stock worth $948,000 after purchasing an additional 181,500 shares in the last quarter. Donald Smith & CO. Inc. grew its stake in Alio Gold by 19.6% during the 2nd quarter. Donald Smith & CO. Inc. now owns 616,254 shares of the company’s stock worth $900,000 after purchasing an additional 100,834 shares in the last quarter. Renaissance Technologies LLC grew its stake in Alio Gold by 7.2% during the 2nd quarter. Renaissance Technologies LLC now owns 1,438,580 shares of the company’s stock worth $2,100,000 after purchasing an additional 96,000 shares in the last quarter. Finally, CIBC World Markets Inc. grew its stake in Alio Gold by 131.8% during the 2nd quarter. CIBC World Markets Inc. now owns 151,180 shares of the company’s stock worth $221,000 after purchasing an additional 85,956 shares in the last quarter.

Thank you and this is all nice to know, but have their positions grow or atleast remained the same in the last month with news of AP being put on hold? That's what I would like to know as an investor

I think so & hope so. The big boys do not invest for 25-35% gain or do not get shaken out by 30-40% drop from their purchase price. They understand the value and most probably they invest for a longer term. At least more than 1 year period. I agree, the big boys sometimes get wrong and make losses also. I am confident in investing in a Gold Mining company with SP less than 50% of it's ...more

Why chapter 11? Before going in that way there will be a queue of buyers to take it over.
