RE:columbia has MU varianthttps://www.cbc.ca/news/health/latest-coronavirus-variants-mu-c12-1.6161194 "
The variant was first detected in Colombia back in January, and since then, the country has experienced hundreds of cases and the variant has also been reported in 39 other countries around the world."
mu variant already in 39 other countries, colombia is not the only country that has it. just like delta variant started in india and india is not the only country that has it.
mu is believed to be "resistant" to vaccine which does not mean immune to vaccine or vaccine doesn't prevent it. more research is needed.
gcm tests people coming into their camp and they are isolated from general population so it does not necessarily mean something worse for gcm. so far gcm has not reported any covid infection including mu, delta, or any other variant, and anyone infected can be isolated.
