What a dream for buybacks
This has to be an absolutely perfect situation for companies that buy back their shares… Oil is cresting around $80 a barrel and share prices are dropping… All those profit dollars able to buy back shares as if we had $60 WTI pricing
I think this will remain ripe till June 25, which is the deadline for capital gains taxation at 50% before the "Peckerhead" taxation takes affect after the 25th
I think a truckload of money is leaving the Canadian stock markets and many of the overtaxed select few will be leaving this country since 90% of the taxes are probably paid by those 10%
No reason for them to stay in Canada when they can move to countries that have zero capital gains and zero dividend taxation.
I sure hope ATH is buying back everything they can between now and then.

Not saying ATH not a good name. Own more of it than SU. SU doing alot better since new management came in. Its at 3yr/5yr highs, while paying a $2.00 div. You could have picked it up for $15 back in 2020, when they were all on sale. Its growing production plus refining business is very profitable.

Yah I think for the 3 year spans that SU is up = 75% CNQ is up = 132% ATH is up = 442% So I guess they all need the next Catalyst to move them higher!!!

I mentioned that in my original post, ATH has already made the big move higher last few years. Last 3 months, ATH down about 5%, SU about even. They are rangebound with price of oil, that was point I was making. Over your head.

No offense taken, LOL! Its just a discussion. Your points are based on past performance (I hope you are correct that it continues as ATH is my largest energy holding). I was alluding to recent trading patern and looking to future of company direction to increase value for the next leg up.
