Advent Convertible and Income Fund (the Fund) is a diversified closed-end management investment company. The Fund’s investment objective is to provide total return through a combination of capital appreciation and current income. The Fund will invest at least 80% of its managed assets in a diversified portfolio of convertible securities and non-convertible income securities. The Fund will invest at least 30% of its managed assets in convertible securities and up to 70% of its managed assets in non-convertible income securities. The Fund may invest without limitation in securities of foreign issuers. Fund invests in various sectors, such as technology, financial, communications, energy, basic materials and other. The investment advisor of the Fund is Advent Capital Management, LLC.

Avnel Gold (OTC:AVNZF): I bought shares of Avnel Gold at $.273, and it now makes up about 2% of my portfolio. Avnel is developing its 80%-owned Kalana Main Project in West Africa, which contains 2 million ounces of gold reserves at 2.8 g/t.

I was drawn to the robust economics of this project - according to a feasibility study, Kalana Main carries a net present value of $257 million (5% discount) at $1,200 gold prices; the study projects a low all-in sustaining cost of just $595 per ounce over the first five years of production and $784 per ounce over the life of the mine. The company is currently looking to obtain financing for construction of the mine.

The stock also looks cheap compared to the economics of Kalana Main - Avnel only carries a market cap of $97 million compared to the $257 million in value of the project, according to its feasibility study.
