Canada in stagflation

Canada in stagflation

This is classic stagflation. Unemployment rate going up and gdp is well below historical averages. 7 quarters of negative gdp per capita! Taxes going up!

Since the beginning of the year, for the first 5 months, inflation has already risen by 2% !!! That is a horrible outcome in spite of unemployment already 130 bps higher than its lows.

M/m inflation has risen by 0.56% which equates to an annual rate of ~ 6.9% !!!

The next cpi print for June is going to be higher due to the base effect and current momentum.
