You know how the SHORTS operate

Just like when a REIT or stock was going to be delisted from the TSX index the next month, you know what happens. The shorts pile it on and drive it down

I would have to think given we seen a 11 days in a row of losses for most reits (and as scrooge said other income stocks), I dont think the market interpreted the BOC cut as a rubber stamp of a recession when we've been getting soft data coming in for months.   But rather a huge short of the TSX index and reits regardless if there were actually "capital gains" to be had because it was never about the net sellers wanting out the was greater than net buyers.

Rather it was an opportunity for short sellers to just short everything they can so if that anyone thinking they were beating the 66% inclusion rate got forced to flip their shares much cheaper.
