RE:RE:RE:Value of the Pentagon-AtHoc Deal? I'll start off by saying that Yasch can break things down far better than I can.
Blackberry (AtHoc) is something that no other company can offer. Blackberry needs to start playing rough and tough with governments and other organizations when it comes to security and stability with real time analytics because there aren't other options. Blackberry is the only option in many situations with their recent acquisitions (QNX, AtHoc, SecuSmart, etc.)
Reoccurring revenue is extremely important for Blackberry moving forward with their transition to software and services. I feel like they have been giving away the farm in the past with QNX. I know Chen has realized this and is changing the fees that Blackberry charges, but I really hope we're holding some feet to some fires when it comes to ongoing payments and revenue, especially with government agencies when there aren't any other applicable options available and Blackberry is the indespensable service.
Blackberry has the best software, security and services and we need to stop giving it away for free (or next to free). The US government has $$$$ and I hope we're making sure we're getting a good chunk of it.
Simply put - Blackberry needs to charge a lot for security and stability when we're the only game in town that can offer both!
AdHoc = $$$$
