Also, I was thinking in terms of something that could happen at any moment. I had some money ready to invest last week, and was wondering if I should add some BB or wait until a potential pullback. Then I got to thinking, What if this or that happens this week? E.g., TCL had said they were going to announce a few things on the 27th, and what if one of those things was a bombshell? So that got me started on a list of potential short-term catalysts.
Your point about BLU, Avaya, & Nokis puts me in mind of a second list, where the catalysts are longer-term. E.g., the next stage of the Avaya litigation is some time in May, and the BLU case as I understand it will go to trial at the end of May.
Then again, it just dawned on me (& probably not for the first time) that there's always a chance one of these companies will offer an out-of-court settlement, and that could in fact happen at ANY time.
All great points Yasch.
And I think you're onto something regarding a possible out-of-court-settlement possibly happening. Avaya has pretty much admitted defeat and now that the judge has lifted the shield around their financial woes, I suspect they may look to settle quick and BlackBerry might be willing to take it as a bird in the hand is worth two in a bush. By that, I mean that BlackBerry might be better off taking a smaller settlement rather than risking losing, or risking winning but not getting paid what is truly owed.
Either way, there are many short and long term catalysts that can (and imo WILL) propel BlackBerry much higher and very few catalysts that could drive it lower. Also, (imo) the positive catalysts are far more likely to happen than any of the negative ones.
Have a nice weekend everyone!
I suspect next week will be just as exciting!
