For Hedge and All Fair-minded PostersHedge, I read your earlier post and also read what Yasch wrote over the weekend. My take is that some of these posters are trolls, and I also think there's an element of racism that enters in to some of the anti Chen sentiments. While telling someone to go back to their country of origin may be tolerated on message boards, it's not cool by me and I'm not about to apologize for it. Of course, I cannot prove it.
At times I find myself conflicted as to whether or not to respond. I realize I've asked Yasch and, perhaps, one or two others, not to respond to those I view as provocateur trolls. Meanwhile, I've often not been able to show same restraint. For obvious reasons, I see it as beneath Yasch to respond to a feller like Russian. Russian is an effective troll, but that doesn't make him any less of a troll. Again, I can't prove it.
Not that anyone cares, but there was a post, I believe from this past fall, where Joey became very defensive and offered that he was from South Korea. I'm not going to take an hour out of my day to find it. I think I was teasing him about his spelling.
My nature is to confront what I see as bullying and/or racist behaviors. If someone tells me a racist joke at a get together, nine times out of ten I'm going to get in their face a bit, as opposed to walking away. Pretty tough to change one's nature.
In any case, I'll try harder to ignore these fellers. I don't think sitting back as they post 5 - 15 times daily and take over the board with negative Chen slander is the right way to proceed, but I don't want to upset the good guys here either.
