South of the border, I know a fair number of otherwise intelligent folk who are of the anti-vax persuasion. Also know some Trumpers and insurrection sympathizers... a few of whom are part of the family. :( Unfortunately, paranoia, anger, doubt and fear are elements of human nature that the unscrupulous button pushers understand all too well. Destabilization and subversion often win the day. Most folks are flat out weak and lack conviction in that which they want to believe. In the end, belief and love are everything.
I've often thought were Covid a disease that rendered it's victims paralyzed or blinded, there'd be near 100% vaccine adherence. I believe fear of being immobilized or blinded motivate folks more than fear of death.
